Jaber asks importers to adhere to prices
Lebanon, Business, 9/4/1997
Lebanese Minister of Economy Yassin Jaber on September 3 asked food and beverage importers to adhere to government-set prices.
Jaber asked a delegation from the union of food and vegetable importers, and businessmen to observe the ministry's weekly price. The ministry's price bureau relies on customs declarations and other studies to set prices, attempting to guarantee a reasonable profit said Jaber.
Jaber pledged to meet with each importer in order to review the selection of goods offered, and the profit margins for each.
The minister also met with forum Du Beirut's Elie Zard, who said he discussed preparations for holding exhibitions during next year's shopping festival.
