Algerian security forces killed 60 armed Islamic militants in a main operation still underway in the Sidi Bel-Abbies, west of Algeria, and the Baraki and other suburbs of the capital, Al Watan reported.
UN spokesman Fred Echkhard denied information that Annan said that the Algeria unrest could no longer he regarded as an internal affair. But the spokesman confirmed that Annan wants to see an end to bloodshed in Algeria, Al Ahram daily said today.
