Syria-Iraqi borders to open soon

Syria's border with Iraq will be opened this month to enable Iraq to purchase goods needed according to the "oil for food" deal with the UN.
The coming few days will see the arrival of trucks loaded with foodstuffs bought under the oil sales of the memorandum of understanding, an Iraqi official reported.
The UN approved late last month a site on the Iraqi -Syrian border as an entry point for humanitarian goods to Iraq according to oil pact. The site is at Al-Walid opposite Al-Tenf in Syria, Al Geziratt daily said today September 4.
In related news, Iraq will permit pilgrims from Iran to visit holy sites.
