Lebanese president gives Brazil support of the nation in its bid for UN Security Council membership

Lebanese President Elias Hrawi on September 3 renewed his call for Brazil to actively support Lebanon's quest for independence from Israeli occupation and offered to back the South American country's bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
He addressed the congress on the third day of his landmark visit to Brazil. He said that Lebanon is ready to deploy the army in the south following an Israeli withdrawal, while stressing the need for the implementation of resolution 425.
Hrawi said that on the brink of the 21st century, the world requires peace and development, democracy and creativity as well as dialogue to resolve crises and cooperation to secure resources for the world.
