Syria will not leave one grain of its soil under occupation
Syria, Politics, 9/3/1997
The Syrian ambassador in Cairo, Eissa Darwish, who is also acting as Syria's permanent envoy to the Arab League affirmed that the agenda of the next session of the Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers which will be held on September 20, includes the subject of Al Yarmok Dam, which Israel plans to build on the Syrian occupied territories, as well as other Syrian requests.
After a meeting with the secretary general of the Arab League, Darwish stated that the subject of the Golan Heights is going to discussed by the Arab League, the Arab world, and the international community in order to shoulder their responsibility in stopping the Israeli occupation of Arab lands and its continuous aggression toward the Palestinian, Syrian, and Lebanese peoples.
The Syrian ambassador confirmed that the Golan Heights are a Syrian territory, "Syria will not leave one grain of its soil under occupation, until it restores all the lands it had before June 1967."
He added that any settlement in the Golan Heights, and the construction of any dams are acts of aggression and are considered null and void.
He added that if Arab lands are not returned, there will not be peace. The ambassador hailed the recent Jordanian comments which rejected the Israeli project of Al Yarmuk in the Golan Heights. Jordan informed Syria that there is no cooperation between Jordan and Israel in this regard.
Darwish described Syria's relations with every Arab neighboring country as ones fulfilling an Arab unified strategy, and creating a unified Arab stance toward the dangers facing the Arab nation.
