Lebanese cabinet meets today
Lebanon, Politics, 9/3/1997
The Lebanese cabinet meets today to discuss many problems, including the return of displaced citizens to their houses and improvements for deprived regions. These plans are going to be realized through collecting money from the owners of illegally constructed buildings and other construction infractions.
These measures are going to be taken as part of a 1 million US dollar program proposed by Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, with the Bekaa region standing to benefit the most, where many streets and bridges are going to be restored.
Hariri said yesterday that he would focus efforts on building a sporting complex in Baalbek, according to western Bekaa MP Abdel Rahim Mrad.
Hariri made the promise after meeting with delegations from Baalbek and Rashayah, who lobbied the prime minister for implementation of and follow-up on a variety of local projects.
