Two teenagers die, one injured in hand grenade accident

Two teenagers were killed on August 31 in Sin Al Fil in Beirut by the accidental detonation of a hand grenade.
The victims had reportedly been playing with the grenade. Elie Hajj and Edgar Ghafari were killed in the blast. Ghafari's older brother Charbel Ghafari was injured. The explosion took place in a fourth floor apartment belonging to retired soldier Ibrahim Sawan.
With their parents at a wedding party, the teenagers had taken the keys and entered the soldier's apartment, the neighbors said.
On Ghazali street, residents watched from their balconies as the parents, wearing formal dress, returned to learn of the tragedy.
Charbel Ghafari was taken to St Joseph hospital for treatment. Security officials on the scene refused to release any information about the incident, as an investigation was still underway.
