Israel renews attacks on Lebanon

The Israeli occupation on August 31 renewed attacks against areas adjacent to the occupied strip of south Lebanon.

Security sources said that the occupation positions bombarded the towns of Majdal Salem, Kherbit Salm, Al Sawanah, Haris, Hadath, and Barashit.

The shelling was accompanied by machine guns targeting areas opposite occupation sites in the western sector.

Israeli war planes flew at low altitude over the al Nabatieh and al Tuffah districts.

Meanwhile, security sources said Israel's 120 and 155 mm artillery heavily bombarded al Hujair valley and the surburbs of Balti, Farroun, and al Ghandourieh.

Later, Lebanese national resistance foiled an advance attempt made by pro-Israeli Antoine Lahd's militias towards al Hujar in the al Touffah district. The area was the scene of fierce clashes reported between resistance groups and Israeli land and air forces.

The sources said also that Israeli engineering teams started two days ago to carry out a comprehensive survey of Lebanese areas under Israel's occupation in south Lebanon.

The teams are equipped with tools, including maps, and are working inside populated areas.
