1303 houses destroyed by floods in Berber

Floods soaked the Berber province northern Sudan and destroyed 1303 houses, while 360 families lost all their properties.
Brig. Izzeddin Mohamed, secretary of the emergency room in the province, said that victims have received nothing expect a sum of 15 million Sudanese pounds (almost 8,000 US dollars) from the government.
The area was flooded despite predictions from the irrigation under-secretary Ahmed Mohamed Adam, who said earlier that the levels of the water for August were reasonable. He said that his ministry had established an early warning system which would give a warning ten days before a flood, according to Al Khartoum daily today.
