Bahrain oil production increased

According to a recent report from the Bahraini Ministry of Oil and Industry, Bahrain's oil production increased while oil imports decreased during the first half of 1997.
The report indicated that oil production in Bahrain increased from 38,833 barrels per day (bpd) to 39,395 bpd in 1997. Oil imports decreased from 227,732 bpd (1996) to 213,416 bpd (1997), Al-Hayat newspaper said today.
Last April, Bahrain owned Caltex share (40%) in the Bahrain Oil Company, which operates a 250 bpd refinery.
