Syrian economic reforms
Syria, Economics, 8/29/1997

Syrian Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, Mohamed Imadi, announced yesterday that Syria would carry on its economic reforms and adopt policies to boost local and foreign investments.

"We persistently endeavor to pursue our new economic policies and reforms and to overcome any obstacles to this end," said Imadi in a speech delivered yesterday at the Damascus International Trade Fair inauguration.

For the last five years Syria has been adopting new economic measures, policies and plans in an attempt to revive the economy and allow the private sector to play an expanded role in the economic field..
