Palestinians warn of a human catastrophe
Palestine, Economics, 8/29/1997
Palestinian groups on August 28 warned of a looming human catastrophe after the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced a 7 million US dollar budget cut.
This cut will affect every Palestinian home and family.
"Their health is especially threatened because we have no alternative to the services offered by UNRWA," said a joint statement by the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, released in the Ain Al Hulwa camp. Palestinian refugees are classified as temporary residents and do not benefit from government services, leaving them largely dependent on UNRWA for schooling and health care.
