Sudanese foreign minister trying to clear the atmosphere with Egypt
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 8/28/1997
Mr. Aly Osman, the Sudanese foreign minister, said that Sudan is making great efforts to clear the atmosphere with Egypt, "We have adopted several procedures in this concern well-known to the world."
Osman rejects Cairo's point of view, which stresses that the differences between the two countries are security, not political, ones. He clarifies this point saying, "Actually there are issues that started before the security issue, and that the Egyptian moves against Sudan started at the end of the first year of the salvage government even before the eruption of the Gulf events. This came as Egypt became aware of the attempt of the new regime to have its own space in taking decisions in internal matters as well as in international affairs."
