Sudanese-Egyptian direct contacts basis for bilateral relations
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 8/25/1997
Experience has shown that direct contacts are essential for discussing bilateral relations, Sudanese Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry, Moustafa Osman Ismail, said.
The intervention of a third party might exceed the limits of creating a proper atmosphere for direct contacts, he told Al Khbar daily newspaper based in Sudan on August 22. He was commenting on mediation efforts by some Arab countries to effect rapprochement between the Sudan and Egypt.
Voicing his precaution over mediation, he said there were regional and outside powers which did not wish to see the relationship return to normal.
