Fighting fronts will witness an important event
Sudan, Local, 8/23/1997

Sudanese commander Yasser Arman, in charge of information in the office of col. John Garang leader of the Sudan peoplešs liberation Army (SPLA) and representative of the (SPLA) Eritren, said the war front will witness an important action with a destructive impact on the National Islamic Front (NIF) regime ruling the Sudan.

Arman added the forces of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are having the initiative in four fronts: the south, AL-Nouba mountains, north and south blue Nile and north eastern Sudan.

He said that the forces of the NDA are camping in positions about 35 kilometers from El-Roseiris, 57 KM from EL-Damazine and less than 40 KM from Kassala.

Arman confirmed the NDA forces control a sector in the eastern front extending from Qaroura to Agig covering an area of 114 square KM.

He added that the NDA forces are positioned about 12 miles from WAW while Juba is seized from all directions AL Khartoum daily said today August, 23.
