Troubles with Israel are the main concern
Lebanon, Politics, 8/21/1997

The Lebanese government, headed by President Hrawi, met yesterday at the Presidential Palace for about 3 hours starting at 6:00 p.m. As expected, the main issue discussed was the problem of the truce violation and the escalating tension between Lebanon and Israel.

Hrawi started the session by accusing Israel of "heightening tension in the region and trying to disturb the internal situation in the country." President Hrawi also emphasized on the importance of the unity of Lebanese people in facing Israeli aggression against Lebanon. "It is the only way to encourage the other countries to support Lebanon," Hariri said.

After the session Minister of Information Bassem Sabaa reported a summary of the discussions about Lebanon's relation with countries of the region and some interior matters, such as election laws and Social Security issues.
