Heavy price threat for boycotting elections
Jordan, Politics, 8/20/1997
The Jordanian government warned the opposition "Muslim Brotherhood" movement against boycotting the next parliamentary elections, said El-Hayat newspaper today.
The government said the Muslim Brotherhood movement in Jordan will pay a heavy price if it does not stop the boycott and participate in the elections instead, added Al-Hayat quoting the General Controller of the movement, Sheikh Abdel-Maguid Zoneibat.
Commenting on a meeting with Jordanian Prime Minister Al-Magali, Zoneibat announced the government-Muslim Brotherhood dialogue, tackling national issues and the reasons that led to the movement's decision to boycott the parliamentary elections. He added if some of those reasons are considered, the Muslim brothers would take part in the elections.
