Israelis continue aggression against Lebanon
Lebanon, Military, 8/20/1997

Israeli occupation troops continued to pound areas adjacent to the occupied border strip of south Lebanon on August 19.

Lebanese security sources reported that Israeli artillery batteries positioned in Teiba, Sala, and Abbad shelled the towns of Sawana, Majdal Shams, Tolin, Qabrikha, Salogi valley and al-Qesie in the central sector. About 30 shells fell on the areas.

Al-Nabatieh Al-Foka, Barket Al Jabour, Abi Rashed, Sarira hills and Henya-Zebkin highway came under heavy bombardment. Beit Yahon-Al Hamra crossing was closed, sources said.

Israeli warplanes before noon flew over Nabatieh and Al Toufah areas, broke the sound barrier and carried out mock raids.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces and their agent Lahd's SLA militias were put on maximum alert in the Hasbaya area early on August 19. New Israeli military reinforcements arrived in South Lebanon. Israeli jet attacks on guerrilla bases and a power station near Sidon were also reported.
