Israeli MIAs in Lebanon buried in Jewish cemetery in Damascus
Syria, Politics, 8/18/1997
Three Israeli soldiers declared missing in action in Lebanon 15 years ago are buried in a Damascus Jewish cemetery, Israeli Labor MK Salah Tarif said.
During his visit to Damascus by an invitation from the Syrian president, Saleh Tarif said that he met a Syrian official who told him that the three were buried in the presence of Jewish witnesses in 1982.
The father of one of the three Israeli soldiers told Israeli Radio that he would not believe the trio were dead until their remains are handed over.
Tarif was in Syria as part of a controversial delegation of Israeli Arabs.
