Lebanon resistance forces attack Israeli position
Lebanon, Military, 8/18/1997
The Lebanese national resistance said on August 17 that one of its support units shelled a concentration of Israeli military vehicles inside the Al Salfeh position in the occupied part of South Lebanon.
A resistance statement said the position was directly hit and a number of casualties were reported.
Earlier in the day, resistance-men foiled an attempt made by Israeli occupation troops to advance towards the eastern sector of the South.
Security sources said a 20-man Israeli force tried to advance toward Shaba. Clashes were reported between the Israeli soldiers and Lebanese patriots who forced invaders to return to the occupied zone.
Meanwhile the resistance said two groups rocketed and machine-gunned Israeli military positions in Sojod and Beerklab.
A resistance statement said the two Israeli positions were directly hit.
Later Israeli warplanes raided the hills of Al Naemeh, 15 km south of Beirut, security sources said. They added Lebanese army anti-aircraft guns fired shots against the raiding planes.
