Israeli soldier to stand trial

An Israeli soldier who ran amok last January, opening fire on a Hebron market and injuring seven Palestinians, will stand trial despite a psychological report describing him as mentally disturbed and unfit to stand trial, the Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported today.
Noam Friedman 22, had declared after the attack that he wanted "to kill as many Arabs as possible" to prevent a withdrawal of the Israeli Army from Hebron
Friedman was studying at a Jewish religious school. He was brought before a second psychiatric committee, and the army decided to charge him for his actions.
