Italian equipment to Libya confiscated
Libya, International, 8/12/1997
Italian police have confiscated equipment heading to Libya. The Italians thought it may be used for Ministry purposes and in pipe manufacturing for the oil industry or weapons creation.
London radio said on August 11 that Italian papers stated that police had found these pieces hidden inside containers in Genoa port.
The radio reports that Italian police now are investigating 7 Italians, claiming that they were planning to establish a front for export to Libya items that are banned due to international sanctions against Libya.
