Israeli warplanes attack eastern Bekaa
Lebanon, Military, 8/11/1997

Israeli warplanes on August 11 raided areas near the town of al Nabi Sheet to the east of Lebanon's Bekaa valley.

Lebanese security sources said that the Israeli F-16 fighters fired a number of missiles at the said areas, and the sources, who did not refer to the causalities or the material losses resulting, said that ambulances rushed to the raided area.

A statement issued by Lebanese resistance said Lebanese citizen Mohammed Merhej Othman was killed by the Israeli air raid at noon on August 10.

The resistance attacked an Israeli position at Salaša before noon on August 10 in the occupied border strip with rockets and machine-gun fire.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces continued to carry out attacks on south Lebanon. Security sources said that the Israeli 155 mm artillery pounded before noon on August 10 the area between Qaqait al Jesr and eastern Zoter.
