Libyan Egyptian power grid project on track

A 180 km power line linking Salum and Tubrok on its way to completion is considered a preparatory step to the operation of the electricity project linking Libya and Egypt.
This point was made yesterday August 10 by Egyptian Electricity and Energy Minister Maher Abaza and a Libyan delegation headed by the secretary for the Peoplešs Committee for Electricity ,Omran Ibokra, which is currently visiting Egypt.
The grid will contain many north African countries by 1998. Currently Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco are cooperating to complete this giant power grid after theyšve solved all the technical and financial problems hindering the work process.
Projects between Egypt and Libya have been completed at a total cost LE 250 million.
