Woman stabs her old husband while asleep
Egypt, Local, 8/11/1997

Police field an attempted murder charge against a young wife after she confessed to trying to kill her old husband while asleep so she could marry a man she had an affair with, a security said yesterday August 10.

The source added that Menufia General hospital has received an old man in a very critical condition due to a deep knife wound in his neck and that a neighbor reported that he repeatedly mentioned his wife as his attacker before going into coma.

A police investigation revealed that the young wife slashed the victimıs throat open in an effort to kill him while he was napping, but he woke up and ran to the neighbor seeking help after telling them that his wife wanted to slaughter him. "Some neighbors said that the bedroom which the victim live in was wide open and they saw a man running away."

Police now believe the womanıs lover was at the crime scene and participated in it.

A police source said that the woman still adamantly refuses to identify her accomplice, and the Menufia prosecutor has issued a warrant for the man's arrest.
