Israeli closure costs Palestinian woman her life
Palestine, Local, 8/8/1997
A 95-year-old Gazan woman died of a blood clot because she, like others, could not pass Israeli roadblocks for hospital care, said Palestinian Health Minister Riyad Al-Zaanoun.
Zaanoun said , "I wonder how Jews, who suffered collective punishment from the Nazis, can practise such punishments on the Palestinian people."
The woman, Kamaleh Abu Shanab, would normally have been taken to a hospital in Arab East Jerusalem but could not obtain Israeli permission.
