Saudi-Indian agricultural cooperation

Saudi-Indian cooperation in the agricultural sector has been extended until August 1998, following the success achieved under the red palm weevil pest control project of the Saudi ministry of agriculture and water.
The Saudi Arabia is the worldıs top producer of dates, with a production that is expected to reach 620,000 tons. The number of date palms exceeds 13 million.
There are 19 date factories in Saudi Arabia. Following the successful eradication of the date palm pest, some areas have been declared pest-free.
India is also training personnel in the field of agricultural research and technical publications by promoting exchange of visits by experts and co-operation in farm machinery and equipment.
