Five killed in south Lebanon helicopter crash

A Unifil(United Nations) helicopter on a routine flight over the occupation zone in south Lebanon crashed near Bint Jbeil killing all five crew members and passengers.
The helicopter, an Italian air force Bell Augusta and one of five used by the peacekeepers, crashed in a valley between the villages of Al Tiri and Rashaf.
The Unifil source said that the helicopter had landed briefly at the Irish battalionšs 6-44 post in Al Tiri, but after taking off to return to Naquora it crashed 800 meters west of the village.
Also the source said there were five people abroad and all were killed. The pilot and the co-pilot were Italians and one passenger was a Irish Unifil serviceman, but the nationalities of the others are still unknown.
The crash site was in an area of the zone heavily patrolled by Israeli troops and South Lebanon Army militiamen and located between three SLA positions.
Meantime the Israeli Army immediately declared a state of emergency in the zone.
