Israeli troops on full alert in south Lebanon
Lebanon, Military, 8/5/1997

Israeli occupation troops are on full alert along the southern part of the border with Lebanon. Intensive foot and mechanized patrols were seen scouting the entire border since the early morning of August 4.

News reports added that pro-Israeli Lahd¹s militias were also on alert in the aftermath of Israel¹s attack launched at dawn against the area adjacent to the occupied area.

The Lebanese national resistance said resistance men confronted an Israeli landing attempt in Deir al Zahrani region where fierce clashes took place while Israeli helicopters and jets intervene to pull out the besieged Israeli force.

In a statement issued on August 4, the resistance said five of its men were wounded after a bomb explosion triggered by a remote-control device.

The explosion took place at the end of four hours of clashes between Lebanese resistance fighters and the Israeli forces in al Kfour and Touleen.

The Israeli forces were brought in earlier by four helicopters, while another Israeli air-borne Apache helicopter brought the Israeli soldiers who planted the bombs.
