No problems with Iraqi government
Iraq, Military, 8/5/1997
A United Nations inspection team specialized in biological weapons concluded a visit on August 4 to Baghdad and reported that there were no problems in dealing with the Iraqi government.
Nils Calstrom, director of the United Nations office in Iraq said that the biological weapons team encountered no problems. "I cannot get into details but I can say that everything went easy and without problems," he said.
Also he added, "I can say it is a good sign of Iraqi cooperation."
It was the first team visit to Iraq since Richard Butler, the new chairman of the United Nations special commission, came to Baghdad for talks in July 1997.
The team was in Iraq for 10 days.
