Possibilities to join rebels in Sudan for peace accord

A Sudanese newspaper on July 31 reported officials as saying contacts with rebel factions were in progress to try persuade them to join in a peace accord.
Last April, the government and six rebels groups initialed (signed) an accord that does not include the mainstream Sudan Peoplešs Liberation Army (SPLA) of John Garang.
"Extensive contacts are being made this days with the Native Sons of State (of south Kordofan) who are under the SPLA9Jebel Nuba faction, including itšs Cheif Yosif Kuwa," Al-Akhabar paper quoted state governor Habib Makhtoum as saying.
