World Bank, UN agencies give Yemen loan

Yemen has received a 36 million US dollar soft loan from the World Bank's International Development Agency and the UN's International Fund for Agricultural Development, an Agriculture Ministry official said on July 27.
"Two agreements in this regard were signed recently in Washington during a visit by the Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources Ahmed Salem al-Jabali," he said.
He said the funds would be used to support rural development projects in Yemen's southern governorates to increase farmers' income, create new jobs, dig wells, conduct agricultural surveys and train farmers.
