Jordan's and Syrian unions protestation
Jordan, Politics, 7/23/1997

Jordanian Trade Unions have called for boycotting the Doha economic conference while Jordanian university students hailed the "heroic deed" of soldier Ahmed al-Daqamseh.

The Jordanian Vocational Trade Unions Chairmen's Council described any participation in Doha conference as an acceptance of all Israeli policies targeting Arab rights and sacredness.

"The Israeli stand, which constitutes a strategic challenge against the Arab nation, is based on the dismembering of al-Cham countries by separating them from Syria in preparation for the setting up of Greater Israel"

In related development, the National Front of Arab Unions and Vocational Federations stressed the necessity of confronting all forms of normalization with Israel and of punishing those who violate Arab consensus.

In the third day of the meeting held under the chairmanship of its chief, Saad Eddin Wahba, the front reiterated the need to unite Arab ranks and to strengthen pan-Arab solidarity as a strategy for encountering current Arab crises and for supporting inter Arab economic cooperation.

More than 500 political union members and cultural personalities from Syria and the Arab homeland are taking part in the Front's meetings.
