Private hospitals to be regulated
Egypt, Medicine, 7/22/1997
Egyptian Health Minister Dr. Ismail Sallam, also a leading cardiac surgeon, is aware of the importance of regulating the market of private hospitals, which sometimes present moderate heath services at very high prices.
Some Hospitals recruit foreign doctors without paying attention to their credentials. The hospitals publicize the foreign "experts'" visits and levy huge sums of money on patients without doing them any real good.
Dr. Sallam has recently imposed a ban or recruiting reproduction health experts to work in hospitals. His decision is expected to be followed by other regulations.
