AL seeks UN help to solve Lockerbie dispute

A noted Arab diplomat termed as "fair" a suggestion forwarded by the Arab League and the Organization for African Unity (OAU) to resolve the long-standing Lockerbei dispute between Libya and the West.
League secretary-general, Dr. Esmat Abdul Maguid, disclosed during an interview with "Voice of America" that he had urged UN chief Kofi Annan to try to convince the West to respond to Libyan overtures.
Tripoli signaled readiness to have two Libyan suspects tried before a neutral tribunal.
