Netanyahu attacks anti-Muslim posters in Hebron

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu phoned the mayor of Hebron on June 29 to condemn the distribution there of posters depicting the prophet Mohammed as a pig stomping on the Koran.
Hours after the phone call, Palestinians said Israelis reportedly entered a school in Hebron and scrawled anti-Arab slogans on blackboards. The army said it was checking the report.
In the West Bank village of Peit Ummar, near Hebron, dozens of Palestinian youths stoned passing Israeli vehicles in protest against the offending posters, witnesses said.
They said a Jewish settler fired shots in the direction of the demonstrators after stones were thrown towards his vehicle.
A Jerusalem magistrate's court remanded for five days a 25 year old Jerusalem resident, Tatyana Suskin, suspected of pasting the posters on 20 shop fronts near a Jewish settlement in the West Bank, Israel's army radio said.
"It's connected with their views; they don't want any Jews at all in Hebron or in this area whatsoever. It's unimportant how we will behave. They will demand more and more. I only say they are using their religion to force people to fight Jews," Suskin told army radio.
Police said they arrested Suskin after she threw a rock through the windscreen of an Arab's car in Hebron and found posters in her possession. Netanyahu told Jewish leaders at a conference in Jerusalem, "I felt it necessary to call the mayor to express not only my personal revulsion but the revulsion of the entire people of Israel.
Israeli President Ezer Weizman said the poster was an "idiotic, stupid" drawing.
Dozens of protesters took to the streets in Hebron on June 28 after Arab shopkeepers discovered the posters. Islam and Judaism view pigs as unclean and ban the eating of pork.
A Palestinian education official said teachers found the words "All Arabs are sons of Whores, only border policemen are real men" written on blackboard in a school near Jewish enclaves in the town.
