Algeria's president on visit to Iran

Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad today officially welcomed his Algerian counterpart, President Abdelaziz Bouteflika.

President Bouteflika, heading a high-ranking economic and political delegation arrived in Tehran Sunday afternoon upon official invitation made by President Ahmadi-Nejad.

The Algerian president and his entourage were welcomed at Mehrabad International airport by Government spokesman Gholam Hossein Elham, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, Minister of Housing and Urban Developments Mohammad Saeedi-Kia, Health Minister Kamran Baqeri Lankarani, Minister of Science Mohammad Mehdi Zahedi and Minister of Industries and Mines Ali-Akbar Mehrabian.

The official welcome ceremony was held at Presidential premises downtown Tehran this morning.

During the ceremony, national anthems of the two countries were played and the two presidents reviewed guard of honor.
The two presidents would start their private talks immediately after the ceremony.

During his two-day stay, the Algerian president is to confer with his Iranian counterpart and other senior officials on issues of mutual interest as well as the regional and international developments.
Five ministers of Algerian cabinet including Foreign Minister Mourad Medelci, Minister of Energy and Mining Chakib Khelil, Minister of Higher Education Rachid Harraoubia, Minister of Housing Noureddine Moussa and Minister of Health Said Barakat arrived in Tehran Saturday.
