Iran Supreme Leader meets Mashaal: Israeli enemy helpless
Palestine-Iran, Politics, 5/27/2008
Iran's Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said today while meeting Hamas leader Khalid Mashaal that the Israeli enemy has become helpless in confronting the Palestinian people.
Appreciating the heroic resistance of the Palestinian people, resistance forces and Hamas government in confronting the atrocities of the Israeli regime, bullying powers and their allies, Ayatollah Khamenei underlined that the Israeli enemy has become helpless in fighting the lonely, innocent but resistant nation of Palestine.
The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution made the remarks in a meeting with Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Political Bureau Chief in Syria Khalid Mashaal.
"Thanks to the Almighty God, the Zionist enemy, which seemed to be invincible, has been weakened in facing the oppressed and patient people of Palestine .. I pray to the Almighty God to bless the Palestinian people who continue resistance despite heinous crimes and atrocities of the Zionist regime," he added.
Ayatollah Khamenei further underlined that the only way for liberation of the occupied territories of Palestine is resistance and reliance on God, saying that Hamas officials, particularly Mr. Haniyeh, prime minister of the popularly elected government of Hamas, have adopted brave stances in the face of the enemy.
Deploring the hard situation of the Palestinian people, the Supreme Leader noted that massacre of women, children and men as well as inhuman blockade of Gaza Strip are regrettable, but the people's constant resistance to the Israeli regime is a source of hope and a sign of realization of divine promises.
He said that the issue of Palestine and the helplessness of the Israeli regime and its allies as well as great progress of the Iranian people is interpretation of this promise of the God that "If you help the divine religion and resist in this path, God will help you and make you victorious." Pointing to the fact that the resistance for the sake of God should be rewarded, he noted that those, who follows this path and endure all hardships, will be honored by God.
Mashaal, for his part, briefed the Supreme Leader on the latest developments in Palestine, particularly the human catastrophe in Gaza Strip, saying that the Palestinian people are proud of their resistance and will never give up jihad and support for the popular government of Hamas.
He further referred to the martyrdom-seeking spirit of the Palestinian youths, adding that the determination of the people, particularly the youths, has strengthened the spirit of resistance in the occupied land of Palestine.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad said yesterday that Israel has lost confidence in the face of Palestine liberation movement.
Making the remark in a meeting with Mashaal, he said that the Palestinian nation continues with positive and victorious trend of resistance.
Pointing to the fact that the current situation of Palestinian nation is completely different from that of 20 years ago, Ahmadi-Nejad noted that the victories in Palestine and Lebanon have roots in the resistance movement which will continue in the future.
He further underscored the necessity of all-out support by Islamic nations for the Palestine oppressed people, noting that Iranian government and nation will always back the innocent Palestinians.
Iran's Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani received Mashaal yesterday. In the meeting, Rafsanjani, by referring to the clear violation of Palestinian rights and continuation of Gaza blockade by the Israeli regime, said resistance is the only road to achieve the nation's right.
Meantime, Mashaal in a speech to a group of Iranian academics in Tehran University said "Rest assured that the US and the Zionist regime will be defeated. We and you will be victorious and hold prayers in noble Quds."
He said all the plots hatched by the US and the Israeli regime against the Palestinian people, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria too will be thwarted. He thanked Iran for supporting Palestinians and said they will never forget the favor.
