Iraqi government, al-Mahdi Army agree to a cease-fire
Iraq-USA, Politics, 5/13/2008

The Iraqi government and al-Mahdi Army agreed to a cease-fire Sheik Salah al-Obeidi, an aide to anti-occupation cleric Moqtada al-Sadr, says the cease-fire will go into effect Sunday.

He made the ceasefire agreement public in the southern city of Najaf on Saturday. Iran has called on warring parties to sit at the negotiating table and settle dispute through dialogue, and brokered a ceasefire between the Iraqi government and al-Sadr where the peace process was halted because of the US bombardment of the residential areas in the city according to Iranian sides.
