Iran to invest $ 3.5 billion in Syria

Iran's Deputy Minister of Housing and Urban Development Moussa Barzegar said that volume of investment by Iranian companies in Syria will reach $ 3.5 billion from one billion.
"If the agreements, signed by Iran and Syria, are finalized, volume of Iranian companies' investment in Syria will reach $ 3.5 billion," said Barzegar on Saturday.
Barzegar, also head of Iranian delegation to the expert committee of Iran-Syria Commission, made the remark while speaking to a group of Iranian and Syrian officials after end of the preliminary meeting of the joint committee.
Representatives of Iranian and Syrian industries, energy, interior, information, foreign affairs, agriculture, labor and education ministries were present at the preliminary meeting.
At the meeting, Barzegar hoped for speedy finalization of the agreements signed by the two sides.
The Syrian head of the meeting, al-Zabi for his part hoped that the two sides will soon sign a free trade agreement and they will hold more meetings for mutual investment and sharing experience in the economic and commercial domains.
