Iraq urges resumption of Iran-US talks on Iraq

Iraq's Finance Minister Bayan Jabr has called for Iran to hold talks with the United States on Iraq saying that the former talks have proved fruitful to help establish law and order in Iraq.
He said "The Iranian officials have told the Iraqi officials that Iran has no reservation to resume talks with the US on Iraq." He added that exact date of the fourth round of Iran-US talks on Iraq has not been determined yet.
He predicted that the next round of Iran-US talks on Iraq would be held at foreign minister level.
The Iraqi minister added that Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari, in their separate meetings with the visiting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad have called for resumption of Iran-US talks on Iraq.
The Iranian and US officials have so far held three rounds of talks on Iraqi situation on May 28, July 24 and August 6, 2007 respectively.
The talks were attended by Iran's Ambassador to Iraq Hassan Kazemi Qomi, his US counterpart Ryan Crocker and representatives of the Iraqi government.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Sunday rejected US accusation that Iran interferes in Iraq's internal affairs. "(US President George W) Bush cannot solve US problems in the region by accusing others. Gone is the era of accusations. The Iraqi nation does not want the US," said the Iranian president in a joint press conference with Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki in Baghdad on Sunday.
