Elham rejects effect of any possible new anti-Iran resolution
Iran-UN, Politics, 1/22/2008
Iran's Government spokesman Gholam-Hossein Elham said today that issuance of any possible new resolution against Iran's peaceful nuclear program will have no effect on behavior of the Iranian people.
Talking to reporters during his weekly press briefing, he said, "The Iranian nation is moving within the framework of its legitimate and legal rights in line with materialization of its objectives." He made the remarks in response to a question on today's session of the so-called Group 5+1 in Berlin and possible issuance of new resolution against Iran.
"Arrival of the UN Security Council in Iran's nuclear issue has no justification," he said.
After the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in its reports announced that the agency was legally in charge of the issue, continuation of such a process has become more illegal and illogical, Elham added.
"We doubt that members of the UN Security Council would repeat such illogical behavior which would damage the credibility and prestige of the IAEA," he reiterated.
The world public opinion will not accept illegal behavior, he said, urging the Group 5+1 to pursue logical and legal attitude.
Meantime, Head of Iran's Parliament Commission of National Security and Foreign Policy by referring to the report of 16 US Intelligence bodies that Iran had stopped work on nuclear technology for military use as well as IAEA chief's report said all countries should accept International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) judgment as a logical and acceptable conviction. Alaeddin Boroujerdi underlined that Iran's nuclear dossier must return from UN Security Council to the IAEA.
