King Hamad on investment in Iran and gulf future
Bahrain-Iran, Politics, 1/15/2008
Bahrain's King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa said on Saturday that the Arab states eye Iran for investment and Iran is expected to provide the investors with opportunity to have a share in investment projects.
Al-Khalifa made the remark in a meeting with editors of Bahraini newspapers, adding that given the trend to invest in Iran, Iranians should prepare grounds and expand supports for foreign investors.
He said that regional states have concluded that they should restore balance to the region and make efforts to support investment.
Referring to the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, he noted that the longstanding map envisaged two parts for the region: the Persian Gulf and the Arab peninsula and since the old times, the investors prefer Iran for investment and economic cooperation.
He pointed to the Iran-US ties, saying, "I do not believe that Iranians want hostility with the US, and that both sides have not any problem for dialogue." Touching on the fact that the region has suffered war for the past 30 years and that it is the time for peace, he said, "Neither Iran nor the US and Bahrain want war in the region." The king further noted that certain powers calls for considering news based on their own interests and viewpoints, but Bahraini people and government should impartially see regional developments.
