Yemen calls for release of its prisoners in Guantanamo

Yemen's Minister of Justice Ghazi al-Ghbari confirmed on Saturday his country's clear and continuous position in calling the US administration to release Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo prison.

In a meeting with delegations of US Center for Constitutional Rights and the British Reprieve Organization concerned of defending and following up release of Guantanamo detainees, al-Aghbari said that existence of Yemeni prisoners in the camp is considered a violation to all religious legislation, national law and international accords and treaties, noting that there is no justification for the United States of unjust trail for the detainees or being treated badly.

He indicated that Yemen has a system of leading laws that ensure rights and just trail and discussed with the two delegations adequate solutions for ending problem of Yemeni detainees in Guantanamo Bay.

For their part, the US and British delegations showed the minister efforts exerted by their organizations in following up detainees issue in Guantanamo, expressing their intention to help Yemeni government for following up its detainees.

On the other hand, justice minister discussed with the team of Lawyers Bar here a number of topics concerning judiciary aid, Documentation, qualification and training.

The minister affirmed the importance of cooperation between advocates and judges for realizing justice, showing his ministry's readiness for organizing a number of training courses to advocates under training within programs presented by the bar to the Higher Judiciary Institute.
