Palestine, Politics, 10/16/2007
The Palestinian official news agency WAFA said "Hamas illegal executive force attacked Tuesday evening a wedding party and forced the attendance under gunpoint to leave in al-Zahra city, south Gaza, witnesses said."
They added that a mass of illegal executive force jumped from their cars and began shooting fire, wounding the citizen Ahmed Soroor and spreading a state of fear and panic. The report also said that a Hamas force "stormed al-Fakhani area in al-Zahra city and abducted under gunpoint al-Zahra Mayor, Dr. Tareq Hijjo and took him into an unknown destination."
Hamas which won the election has been in political conflict with the Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas over rights to political officies and who should lead the Palestinian agenda, and in military conflict sometime with the Fatah Palestinian faction that supports the Palestinian president and that has had the main political power in the past.
