Lebanese al-Diyar: 3 of 4 kidnapped Iranian diplomats still alive
Lebanon-Iran, Politics, 7/16/2007

Three of the four Iranian diplomats kidnapped in Lebanon in 1982 are still alive and in Israel's captivity.

Saturday edition of Lebanese daily "al-Diyar" quoted a group of international experts, who are in Lebanon on a fact-finding mission, as making the remark.

The experts are cooperating with German intelligence and security organization to facilitate exchange of Israeli and Hizbollah PoWs.

Al-Diyar said one of the diplomats -- most probably the Iranian charge d'affaires, had been killed hours after the abduction for opposing the transfer of the kidnapped diplomats to Israel.

On July 5, 1982, Ahmad Motevasselian, Taqi Rastegar-Moqaddam, Seyed Mohsen Moussavi and Kazem Akhavan were kidnapped north of Lebanon by Phalangists.

Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini yesterday said existing evidence are proof that the kidnapped Iranians are still alive.
