Lebanese cleric: Cheney trying to complicate Arab - Iran ties
Lebanon-Regional, Politics, 5/21/2007

Lebanese Shiite cleric Muhammad Hussein Fadlallah said, "The aim of US Vice-President Dick Cheney's latest trip to the region was creating complication and tension in the relations between Iran and Arabs."

Addressing the Friday prayers in a mosque in the south of Beirut, Fadlallah said, "Cheney's mission is warmongering in the region to secure US and Israel interests."

He warned regional countries about the US political and security plans and said the US is just trying to solve its own problems in Iraq and in this concern is forced to negotiate with Iran.

The Lebanese Shiite cleric said, "The reason of Cheney's visit to the United Arab Emirates was also imposing pressure on companies related to Iran there to keep economic pressure on Iran."
