Egypt ready to meet Palestine's needs of energy

Egypt's Petroleum Minister Sameh Fahmi received yesterday visiting Chairman of the Palestinian Energy and Natural Resources Authority Omar Ketana.
Talks took up means of promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of oil and natural gas along with ways of allowing the Palestinian side to benefit from Egypt's expertise in the natural gas domain.
During a meeting Fahmi highlighted his country's keenness on offering all needed technical and economic support for the Palestinian Authority under the directives of President Hosni Mubarak.
Talks tackled means of securing energy supplies' arrival to the Palestinian Authority within the coming period, said Fahmi asserting the oil sector preparedness to cater for Palestinian needs of energy.
The two sides also probed means of extending natural gas for a Gaza power station along with allowing the Palestinian side to benefit from the Egyptian capabilities and expertise in developing the newly discovered Palestinian gas wells.
For his part, Ketana hailed the role played by Egypt in backing the Palestinian energy sector.
