Iran, Dubai electricity network link

Iran and Dubai on Sunday agreed to cooperate in linking electricity networks through underwater cables.

Managing Director of Iran's Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Company Tavanir Mohammad-Ali Vahdati and Managing Director of the Dubai Water and Electricity Authority Saeed Al-Tayer signed a memorandum of understanding to expand cooperation in the field.

The MoU, which will be implemented in about one year, envisages study on transferring electricity with a voltage of 400 kilovolt.

Regarding the 180 kilometers distance between Iran and Dubai, the two sides will determine the exact underwater cables, voltage, the amount of transferable energy, and the cost of implementing the project.

The transferable power in the project is envisaged at more than 1,000 megawatts.

According to the report, the managing director of Dubai Water and Electricity Authority inspected the capabilities of Iranians in the electricity sector to construct and manufacture equipment for power plants in Karaj, Tehran province.
