PLO: Israel seeks to undermine understanding
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 4/23/2007
The Israeli forces have imposed today a siege on the Palestinian Territory.
Israeli daily, Yedioth Ahranoth reported that Israeli forces have been placed on high alert for Remembrance and Independence days.
It added that the Israeli Army will extend its siege on the West Bank and Gaza Strip even after the end of Independence ceremonies.
Presidency Spokesman, Nabil Abu Rdeina warned of the Israeli military threat to strike the Gaza Strip. In a statement, Abu Rdeina said that such threat is as a threat against the truce, agreements and understandings that reached and do not contribute for suitable climate to start searching for a solution to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, adding that any Israeli escalation will lead to more deterioration and instability in the region.
PLO National and International Relations Department said Monday that Israel government's escalation against the Palestinian people is an escape of the peace process' merits.
In a statement, it said the continued Israeli acts of assassinations and bombardment in Gaza, Jenin and Nablus is a clear evident that there is not an Israeli partner in the peace process.
The Israeli government endeavors to escalate violence, foil the national unity government and undermine President Mahmoud Abbas' efforts and international tour to lift the embargo imposed on the Palestinian people.
